Training in vegetable and macerated oils for the Impulso Verde Nursery Network

After eight months of confinement due to the pandemic the Impulso Verde team finally had the opportunity to visit the Nursery Network in the south of Nariño. For one week we held general meetings with each partner association sharing experiences and objectives for the end of 2020 and the next few years.
In addition, as part of the Alternative Economies project, Impulso Verde invited Hernando Ojeda, Calí’s expert in raw material transformation into vegetable oils and maceration of therapeutic plants.
The trained associations, Manantial de Vida, Sinchimaki and Puma-Maki were very satisfied to have been able to experience the transformation of peanut, sesame and linseeds into virgin vegetable oils and maceration of therapeutic plants (calendula and chamomile). The next step for each association is to identify the raw materials in their community and what kind of transformation could be done with them for further commercialisation. The Sinchimaki association, for instance, already has a small production of marigold in its nursery.
The trainings make part of the reforestation and alternative economies to deforestation project in Colombia, co-financed by the French Development Agency (AFD – Agence Française de Développement), in collaboration with Envol Vert Latin America, Up2green Reforestation and Forestever.
