A Green Impulse* during the global event of COP16

Impulso Verde Foundation will be a key player in COP16, the global biodiversity event that will take place this year in Cali.

The Impulso Verde Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the conservation and protection of biodiversity at a global level by participating in COP16. This biennial event, which brings together delegations from around the world, will focus on finding solutions to halt biodiversity loss. In this edition, Green Impulse will join various activities and events, promoting actions and projects aimed at improving the relationship between humans and ecosystems.
In the COP16 Green Zone, located on Bulevar del Rio, Impulso Verde will offer an interactive experience of music from plants, as well as exhibiting its projects of environmental education, ecological restoration and green businesses.
“We will have the opportunity to make our work visible, which together with the peasant and indigenous communities of Nariño has allowed the creation of a network of 16 community nurseries with 200 families and the planting of more than 1,200,000 native trees. It is an example of the positive impact we can achieve when we join forces to protect our water resources and restore the High Andean forest. We have also developed projects in the Farallones de Cali Natural Park”, said Antoine Gérigné, president and founder of the Impulso Verde Foundation.
On Friday, October 25, Impulso Verde will organize a key conference within the Agenda Política – Académica in Auditorium 330 of the Banco de la República, at 4:00 p.m. The focus of this conference will be the Landscape Restoration through the silvopastoral system in Nariño, a key space for discussing and promoting practices that contribute to the conservation of biodiversity through sustainable livestock farming. ” These kinds of exchanges are essential to sharing experiences and strengthening the sustainable management of our landscapes,” added he president of the foundation.
In addition, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Cali, Impulso Verde will be present at the Alberto Galindo Sports Unit, where it will promote the marketing of products from its Nativa brand.
This initiative supports the green businesses of peasant and indigenous communities in Valle del Cauca and Nariño, offering products such as honey, soaps, macerated oils and seedlings. In addition, awareness activities will be developed for more than 2,000 children and young people at the Almendros Park in northern Cali.
The Foundation will also participate in events alongside the Pérgola Clandestina, the Cali Environmental Film Festival and the Cali Ecological Festival, where it will offer recreational, sensory and educational activities focused on biodiversity, As well as in the Entertainment and Culture Pavilion, in partnership with Our Village. Finally, a planting day will be held.
In the final stretch towards COP16, Impulso Verde is training volunteers as biodiversity promoters and collaborating in the Table of Environmental Education together with delegates from the Ministry of Environment, social and environmental organizations of Cali and Valle del Cauca, In addition to educational institutions in Colombia.
